Li-Pi Hsieh, pianist, was born in Taiwan where she began her early musical studies. While on a concert tour in the Orient, renowned American pianist Richard Goode heard her play and invited her to study with him at the Mannes College of Music in New York. In addition to her studies with Mr. Goode, Ms. Hsieh also studied with pianists Claude Frank and Peter Serkin at Mannes where she received a Master of Music degree.
Ms. Hsieh has performed both as a soloist and in chamber music groups across the United States, Canada, Europe and Asia. She has also collaborated and performed with the Cassatt, Manhattan, and Sequoia String Quartets, musicians from the New York Philharmonic, Boston Symphony, and Minnesota Orchestra, Cho-Liang Lin, Erick Friedman, Aaron Rosand, Sidney Harth, and Placido Domingo among others.
Her recordings include interpretations of the sonatas of Beethoven, Brahms, and Debussy with German violinist Wolfram Konig. She has been an in demand performer and active participant at many music festivals including the Musikalischer Sommer in Ostfriesland, Germany, the Beethoven Festival in New York, and the Norfolk Chamber Music Festival of Yale University. Ms. Hsieh has taught piano at Mt. Holyoke College, Smith College, and Choate Rosemary Hall.
